WHY DO IT?
Driving for DVD offers the chance to combine a very rewarding and much appreciated service to the local community with other commitments.

Drivers are able to accept or decline each request when contacted by the DVC office staff.

As a volunteer there is no monetary reward but there is a donation based on the mileage travelled from and to the driver’s home. This is given by the client to the driver at the end of each journey.

DVD uses the HMRC rate per mile to calculate the cost of each trip. This covers fuel and the extra running costs whilst volunteering. The present rate is 45p per mile.
OFFICE STAFF
CAN YOU HELP IN THE OFFICE?
Our Volunteer Office staff are crucial to the successful operation of the DVD transport service. All requests for transport from our 500+ clients are made by telephone and logged onto our desktop computer each weekday morning by our office staff.
CAN YOU?
Use a computer

Speak in a clear and friendly way on the telephone.

Be available from 9.45 to 12.15 one morning per week to assist in/staff the office.

Listen patiently to those with hearing and communication difficulties and record their transport requests accurately.

Attend training sessions to learn how to use our computer booking system. It is very straightforward and easy to operate.
