Who Do We Help?

Anyone who is unable to use public transport

Anyone living in an area where public transport isn't available

Anyone who is able to get in and out of a car

We help the 500+ people in Didcot and surrounding villages who cannot get to their appointments without our service.

Our office volunteers receive calls from Clients requesting transport.

These are recorded on our dispatch programme TransManager.

Clients are matched with a volunteer driver and given a time when they will be picked up from home so that they can reach their appointments punctually.

The 6 Steps to Signing up with DVD

PROVIDE YOUR DETAILS

Office staff will ask for your contact, mobility and disability details and answer all your questions.

REGISTRATION FORM

We send a letter with further information and a registration form for you to return to us. We ask each client to register with DVD each year and to donate £6 to pay for our office and running costs.

ADDED TO COMPUTER

We enter your details on our computer so that when you telephone to request transport we can deal with this efficiently.

REQUEST A DRIVE

When you make a request for transport please give as much notice as possible and at least 48 hours.

DRIVER ALLOCATED

When we have found a driver we’ll ring you to give his/her name and tell you what time you’ll be picked up.

Our Service

We are Here to Help

This is a door to door personal transport service operated by volunteers.

Our drivers use their own vehicles to take each client to and from the venue and will accompany the client throughout the hospital appointment if required.

Drivers with larger vehicles can take folding wheelchairs and walking aids.

DVD is not insured to carry clients using oxygen cylinders.

Any client diagnosed with Dementia must be accompanied.
